Indoor Lighting in OKC.
Chandeliers, pendant lights, sconces, vanity lighting, under-cabinet, track. Every interior fixture type, properly installed and properly braced. We replace dated builder-grade fixtures, hang heavy chandeliers, and add new lighting where none existed across the OKC metro.
Most homes have lighting that doesn't match the people living there.
Builder-grade fixtures from a decade ago. A chandelier sitting in its box waiting to be hung. An island that should have pendants. A bathroom vanity that hasn’t been touched since the home was built. Sound familiar?
Your fixtures look dated
The builder-grade boob lights, brass chandeliers, and dome fixtures that came with the house aren’t your taste, and they’re dragging down rooms you actually like.
You bought a chandelier: now what?
Heavy chandelier sitting in the box for months. The existing electrical box isn’t rated for the weight, and you’re not about to install it yourself. We hang it safely, braced to the joists.
You want pendants over the new island
The kitchen has the island but no overhead wiring for pendants. We run wire from the existing circuit, install proper boxes, add a switch, and hang the pendants: all in one visit.
Lighting throughout your home is uncoordinated
Random styles. Mismatched finishes. Old fluorescents in one room, recessed in another, builder fixtures in the rest. Coordinated lighting throughout the home transforms the whole feel.
Your bathroom vanity lighting is harsh
The Hollywood-bulb bar over the mirror puts every shadow in the wrong place. Modern vanity lighting, sconces, dedicated bar fixtures, or LED-integrated mirrors, changes how the bathroom feels and functions.
Under-cabinet lighting would change everything
The single highest-ROI kitchen upgrade most homeowners can make. Hardwired LED strips or puck lights make counters actually usable for prep work and elevate the whole kitchen.
From a single pendant to a whole-home refresh.
Every interior fixture has its own quirks. Chandeliers need bracing rated to the weight. Pendants need consistent drop heights and balanced spacing. Sconces need to be mounted at the right height for the wall and the use. Under-cabinet lighting needs hardwired switching, not stuck-on battery strips that fall down in six months. Vanity lighting needs to be code-compliant for wet locations near a sink.
We’ve handled all of it across the OKC metro: single fixture swaps in Moore, whole-home lighting refreshes in Edmond, custom chandelier installs in Nichols Hills, kitchen lighting projects in Norman remodels.
What you get from us: every fixture installed to manufacturer spec, every heavy fixture properly braced to joists, every new wiring run done cleanly with minimal drywall damage, and dimmer compatibility verified before we leave.
Three steps. From fixture in box to fully installed.
Most jobs are completed in a single visit, including chandeliers and pendant installs that require new wiring.
1. In-Home Quote Visit
We come out, look at the fixtures you want installed (or want replaced), check existing electrical boxes for weight rating, plan any new wiring runs, and talk through dimmer and switch placement. Bring the fixtures you’ve purchased or ask us for sourcing recommendations.
2. Clear Quote, No Surprises
All-in pricing per fixture, including any bracing upgrades, electrical box replacements, new wire runs, dimmer switches, and patching. Heavy chandeliers and new-location fixtures priced clearly. Nothing added at the end.
3. Clean Install, Same Visit
We protect floors and surfaces, install proper bracing where needed, run new wire if required, mount fixtures to manufacturer spec, install dimmers and switches, test everything, and clean up. Most projects finished in 2-6 hours depending on scope.

A 50-pound chandelier doesn't forgive shortcuts.
Indoor lighting is one of the most DIY’d categories in home improvement, and one of the most commonly redone. The issue isn’t the wiring (although that’s part of it). The issue is the bracing, the box rating, and the small details that make the difference between a fixture that looks intentional and one that looks wrong.
Here’s what we see when we get called to fix someone else’s lighting install.
What Goes Wrong
- Heavy fixtures on standard boxes: Chandeliers hung on non-rated boxes have fallen, damaging floors, furniture, and people below. Code requires proper bracing for anything over 50 lbs.
- Mismatched fixture heights: Pendants hung at different drop heights, sconces mounted at random heights along a wall, chandeliers too close to dining tables. Spacing rules exist for a reason.
- Wrong dimmer = LED flicker: Old incandescent dimmers on modern LEDs cause flickering, buzzing, or refusal to dim. Specific LED-compatible dimmers solve it.
- Sconces in bathrooms not wet-rated: Bathroom fixtures near showers or tubs must be wet-location rated. A standard sconce installed near water is a code violation and a safety issue.
- New fixtures, dead wiring: DIY attempts to add a new fixture often use shortcuts: undersized wire, no proper box, unsafe junctions. The fixture works for a while, then problems appear.
- Damaged walls from poor planning: Holes in the wrong place. Wire runs that hit pipes or HVAC. Extra patching that wouldn't have been needed with proper layout.
Your home looks like it was always meant to look this way.
Good lighting doesn’t make a room look like it has good lighting. It makes the room look better. The fixtures sit right. The drops are even. The dimming is smooth. The light goes where you wanted it. Friends notice that something feels different without quite knowing what.
Here’s what daily life looks like after.
Your New Normal
- Every fixture properly installed: Hung at the right height. Mounted to manufacturer spec. Properly braced for weight. Code-compliant where it matters.
- Heavy chandeliers, safely supported: Joist-mounted bracing means your statement piece stays where it's supposed to, for decades.
- New fixtures wherever you want them: Pendants over the island. Sconces in the hallway. Vanity lighting in the bathroom. Wiring run cleanly, finishes patched.
- Coordinated, finished aesthetic: Lighting throughout the home that feels intentional rather than accumulated.
- Smooth dimming, no flicker: LED-compatible dimmers on every fixture. Set the mood for any room.
- Resale value protected: Updated, code-compliant lighting is one of the most consistently noted positives in home inspections.

How does Kelvin Electric charge for service calls and quotes?
A service call is $175, plus any parts, and we aim to fix the problem within the first hour. If it looks like the job will run past an hour or is more than a quick fix, we stop, explain what we found, and you decide what happens next. For many smaller jobs we can quote from photos or video at no charge. If we arrive and find more than the photos showed, we stop and walk you through what we missed before any work begins. If we need to quote in person, the visit is $175, and it is credited toward the work if you choose to move forward.
How much does indoor lighting installation cost in Oklahoma City?
Under-cabinet lighting and vanity lighting are typically quoted as a project rather than per-fixture. We provide in-home quote visits with clear all-in pricing. See how Kelvin Electric pricing works on this page, or call (405) 267-7760 for a quote.
Can you install a chandelier I bought online?
Absolutely. We install chandeliers regardless of where you purchased them. We check that the existing electrical box is rated for the fixture weight, install proper bracing if needed (especially for heavy chandeliers), and ensure code-compliant connection. Bring your fixture, we handle the installation.
How heavy of a fixture can my ceiling support?
Standard ceiling electrical boxes support up to 50 pounds. Fixtures heavier than 50 pounds require fan-rated bracing or a structural support box. Some elaborate chandeliers weigh 100+ pounds, for those, we install dedicated heavy-duty bracing between joists. We verify weight rating before installation and upgrade the box and bracing if needed. Your fixture won't fall.
Can you add a new pendant light where there's no existing wiring?
Yes. Adding a new fixture where no wiring exists requires running wire from an existing circuit (or a new dedicated circuit) to the new location, installing a properly rated electrical box, and adding a switch. We pull permits where required and handle the work with minimal drywall damage. Common requests include pendants over new kitchen islands, sconces in hallways, and dining room chandeliers in homes that never had one.
Do you handle under-cabinet lighting installation?
Yes. Under-cabinet lighting is one of the highest-ROI upgrades for a kitchen. We install hardwired LED strips or puck lights, run dedicated switching or integrate with existing kitchen lighting, and handle dimmer-compatible installation. Can be installed during a kitchen remodel or as a retrofit project: both are common.
What's the right hanging height for pendants and chandeliers?
General rule: pendants over kitchen islands sit 30-36 inches above the countertop. Dining room chandeliers sit 30-34 inches above the table surface. Foyer chandeliers in standard ceilings should have at least 7 feet of clearance from the floor; two-story foyers can hang lower for visual impact. We adjust based on ceiling height, fixture size, and the look you're going for.
Will my new fixture work with existing dimmers?
Maybe: depends on the dimmer and the fixture. LED fixtures often need specific LED-compatible dimmers; old incandescent-style dimmers can cause flickering or limited dim range. We typically include compatible LED dimmers in quotes for LED fixtures, so you get full smooth dimming from day one.
Can you install vanity lighting in a bathroom?
Yes, and we make sure it's done to code. Bathroom vanity lighting requires wet-location-rated fixtures, GFCI protection on the circuit, and proper clearance from water sources. We install bar fixtures, dual sconces flanking mirrors, integrated LED mirror lighting, and can run new circuits if the existing wiring isn't sufficient.
Do you offer smart home lighting integration?
Yes. We integrate indoor lighting with Lutron Caseta, Philips Hue, and major smart home platforms: scenes, scheduling, voice control through Alexa or Google Assistant, color-tuning. We handle both the fixtures and the switch integration. More on smart home wiring.
