EV Charger Installation Oklahoma City

EV Charger Installation in OKC.

Wake up to a full battery every morning. We install Tesla Wall Connectors, ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Wallbox, and NEMA 14-50 outlets across the OKC metro: dedicated 240V circuits, panel capacity assessed, permits pulled, code-compliant from start to finish.

Owning an EV is great. Charging it shouldn't be the hard part.

Most EV owners hit the same problems before getting a proper home charger installed. Recognize any of these?

Level 1 charging takes forever

Plugging into a regular outlet adds 3-5 miles of range per hour. For a 300-mile EV, that’s 2-3 days for a full charge. Level 2 charges 5-10x faster.

Public chargers are inconvenient & expensive

Driving out of your way, waiting in line, paying premium per-kWh rates, and dealing with broken stations: none of it should be daily life with an EV.

You're not sure if your panel can handle it

A Level 2 charger pulls 30-50 amps continuously. Older 100-amp panels often can’t add that without trouble. We assess it before quoting anything.

DIY YouTube videos make it look easy

They make it look easy because they skip the parts that matter: proper wire gauge, GFCI protection, dedicated circuit, permit. Wrong install can void warranty and insurance.

Tesla Wall Connector or NEMA 14-50?

The “right” answer depends on your EV, where you park, and whether you might switch brands. We walk you through it during the quote visit.

You're buying an EV soon and want to be ready

Smart move. We can install the charger before your EV arrives so you can plug in the day it’s delivered. We coordinate with your delivery timeline.

We've installed chargers for Teslas, Rivians, Mach-Es, F-150 Lightnings, and more.

EV adoption in the OKC metro has accelerated, and we’ve been installing chargers right alongside it. Tesla Wall Connectors in Edmond garages, ChargePoint installs in Nichols Hills estates, NEMA 14-50 outlets in new builds, Wallbox dual-port setups for two-EV households.
Every install is permitted, NEC 625 compliant, finished cleanly, and inspected. We assess your panel’s actual capacity (not just what the breaker label says), recommend the right amperage for your EV’s onboard charger (no point oversizing the wire if your car can’t use it), and coordinate with manufacturer warranties.
What you get from us: a straight assessment of what your home actually needs, a clear all-in quote up front, and a clean install from a crew that does these every week.

Three steps to charging at home.

From first call to first charge, usually within a week, often faster if your EV’s delivery is approaching.

1. In-Home Quote Visit

We come to your home, check your panel capacity, look at your garage or parking area, ask what EV you drive (or are buying), and recommend the right charger type and amperage. Takes about an hour.

2. Clear Quote & Charger Selection

You get an all-in quote that includes the charger (if you want us to source it), labor, wire and breaker, the permit, and inspection coordination. We help you compare Tesla Wall Connector vs ChargePoint vs JuiceBox vs hardwired vs outlet: based on what actually fits your situation.

3. Install, Permit, First Charge

We schedule the day, run the dedicated 240V circuit, install the charger or NEMA 14-50 outlet, pull the permit, get inspected, and have you charging that same day. Most installs take 2-4 hours on-site.

How Kelvin Electric Pricing Works

No guessing. Here is how pricing works, so you know what to expect before we arrive.

Service Call: $175

If something isn’t working right, we come out and work to fix it, usually within the first hour. The service call is $175, plus any parts needed. If it looks like the job will run past an hour or is more than a quick fix, we stop, explain what we found, and you decide what happens next.

Quote From Photos or Video: No Charge

For many smaller jobs we can quote from photos or video at no charge. If we arrive and find more than the photos showed, we stop and walk you through what we found before any work begins.

In-Person Quote: $175, Credited to Your Job

If we need to see the job in person, the quote visit is $175. If you choose to move forward with the work, that $175 is credited toward it.

What's included in every EV charger install.

A proper Level 2 EV charger install is more than just running a wire. It includes the dedicated circuit at the right gauge, the breaker sized to match, GFCI protection where required, conduit where appropriate, the disconnect, the permit, the inspection, and finished mounting that respects your garage or driveway.
Here’s exactly what you get when we install your EV charger: included in the quoted price, with no surprises at the end.

Every major EV charger. We install them all.

EV chargers pull continuous high amperage. The install has to handle it.

EV chargers aren’t like other electrical loads. They run at near-maximum amperage for hours at a time: sometimes overnight, every night. That kind of continuous load exposes every weakness in the install: undersized wire, marginal connections, cheap outlets, missing protection.
This is why NEC has specific code (Article 625) just for EV charging. And it’s why DIY or unlicensed installs cause problems that licensed installs don’t.

What Goes Wrong

Owning an EV gets a lot better.

A proper Level 2 home install changes the EV ownership experience. You stop thinking about charging the way gas drivers stop thinking about gas stations. The car just works. Every morning, fully charged, ready to go.
Here’s what daily life looks like after we’re done.

Your New Normal

Often paired with an EV charger install.

Panel Upgrades

If your existing panel can’t handle a Level 2 EV charger’s continuous load, a 200-amp upgrade comes first. Often paired with EV charger installation as a single project.

Whole-Home Surge Protection

EV onboard chargers are sensitive electronics. Panel-mounted surge protection guards them against grid fluctuations and lightning strikes that come with Oklahoma weather.

Smart Home Wiring

Many newer EV chargers integrate with smart home systems for scheduled charging, load management, and energy monitoring. We handle the infrastructure side.

How does Kelvin Electric charge for service calls and quotes?
A service call is $175, plus any parts, and we aim to fix the problem within the first hour. If it looks like the job will run past an hour or is more than a quick fix, we stop, explain what we found, and you decide what happens next. For many smaller jobs we can quote from photos or video at no charge. If we arrive and find more than the photos showed, we stop and walk you through what we missed before any work begins. If we need to quote in person, the visit is $175, and it is credited toward the work if you choose to move forward.
How much does EV charger installation cost in Oklahoma City?
We provide an in-home quote visit and a clear, all-in quote before any work begins. See how Kelvin Electric pricing works on this page, or call (405) 267-7760 for a quote.
What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 charging?
Level 1 uses a standard 120V outlet and adds about 3-5 miles of range per hour: fine for plug-in hybrids or short daily commutes, but slow for full battery EVs. Level 2 uses a 240V circuit (like an electric dryer) and adds 25-40 miles of range per hour. For a typical 300-mile EV, Level 2 fills the battery overnight; Level 1 takes 2-3 days. Most EV owners install Level 2.
Do I need a permit for EV charger installation?
Yes. Every Level 2 EV charger installation requires an electrical permit from your city or county. We pull every required permit and coordinate inspection. The permit fee is included in our quote. Unpermitted EV charger installs can void your homeowner's insurance and complicate future home sales.
Will my electrical panel handle a Level 2 EV charger?
Maybe. It depends on your existing panel capacity and current load. A Level 2 EV charger typically draws 30-50 amps continuously when charging. We assess your panel during the in-home quote visit: sometimes a sub-panel works, sometimes the existing panel has capacity with load management, sometimes a full panel upgrade is the right call.
Can I install an EV charger myself?
Technically you can install a NEMA 14-50 outlet yourself if you have the skill and pull a permit, but we strongly recommend against DIY for several reasons: undersized wire is a documented fire risk, EV chargers draw continuous high amperage that most DIY installs aren't sized for, unpermitted work voids insurance, and improper grounding can damage your EV's onboard charger. A licensed install is cheap insurance.
Should I get a Tesla Wall Connector or NEMA 14-50?
Depends on your situation. A Tesla Wall Connector is faster (48A vs 32A through the mobile connector), looks better mounted on the wall, and integrates with the Tesla app, but it's brand-specific (though newer non-Teslas can use it via NACS adapter). A NEMA 14-50 is universal and works with any EV's portable charger, but it's slower and less polished-looking. We help you decide during the assessment.
Can you install the charger before my EV arrives?
Yes, and we recommend it. Many EV owners want the charger ready the day the car gets delivered. We coordinate with your delivery timeline and can typically install within a week of your quote visit. If you know the EV model and amperage, we can spec the install before the car even arrives.
Do you install commercial EV charging stations?
Yes. We handle EV charging infrastructure for commercial properties: multifamily housing, office buildings, retail, and fleet locations. Single-port and multi-port installations, load management, billing integration, and coordination with municipal incentives. See our commercial services.
What if I have two EVs?
Common scenario in OKC. Two-EV households have a few options: a single charger that you swap between cars overnight, two separate chargers on separate circuits (requires more panel capacity), or two chargers on a shared circuit with load management. We walk through each option during the assessment: what's right depends on your panel, parking layout, and charging habits.
