Recessed Lighting Oklahoma City

Recessed Lighting in OKC.

Modern, dimmable, beautifully even lighting throughout your home. We design custom layouts and install LED can lights, slim wafer downlights, gimbal accents, and smart-capable recessed lighting: kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, basements, and whole-home jobs across the OKC metro.

Most homes were designed for one light per room, and it shows.

Recessed lighting fixes a lot at once: dark corners, harsh overhead glare, dated fixtures, and rooms that just never felt right. If you recognize any of these, it’s time.

One ceiling light isn't lighting the room

A single fixture in the center of a room leaves corners dark, creates harsh shadows, and never delivers the even, ambient light a modern home expects.

Builder-grade fixtures look dated

The boob lights, brass chandeliers, and dome fixtures that came with the house weren’t your taste then and they’re not aging well. Recessed is the clean replacement.

Your kitchen island is in shadow

Prep work, reading recipes, helping kids with homework: kitchen islands need dedicated overhead lighting and most don’t have it. Recessed solves it cleanly.

You want to dim but can't

Old fluorescent fixtures won’t dim. Modern LED recessed lighting on a proper dimmer goes from full bright to nearly candle-level: set the mood for any moment.

Art, fireplace, or feature wall needs attention

Gimbal recessed lights aim where you want them. We can spotlight art, accent a fireplace, or wash a feature wall with directional light.

You're remodeling and want it done right

Whether kitchen, bath, basement finish, or whole-home refresh: recessed lighting is the single biggest visual upgrade per dollar in most remodels.

Layout comes first. Cutting comes second.

The difference between recessed lighting that looks professional and recessed lighting that looks like a contractor poked holes in a ceiling. It’s all in the layout. Spacing, alignment with cabinets and walls, balanced room coverage, attention to where focal points need extra light. We start every job by designing the layout for your specific space before the first hole is cut.
We’ve installed recessed lighting in OKC metro homes: kitchens in Edmond remodels, living rooms in Norman bungalows, basement finishes in Yukon, whole-home jobs in Nichols Hills. We handle the layout design, the wiring, the dimmer compatibility, and the clean finish.
What you get from us: a thoughtful layout that suits your room, fixtures matched to your home’s style and color palette, dimmer compatibility verified up front, and the kind of clean install where the lights look like they were always supposed to be there.
Kelvin Electric upgraded residential lighting fixtures with modern LED solutions.

Three steps. One transformed space.

From first call to lights-on, usually within a week. Most jobs are done in a single day on-site.

1. In-Home Quote Visit

We come out, look at the rooms you want to light, measure ceiling heights, check attic access, talk through what you’re trying to achieve, and design a custom layout. Color temperature, dimmer options, trim style. We walk through all of it.

2. Clear Quote with Layout

You get an all-in quote that includes the fixtures, the labor, the dimmer switches, and any wiring runs to the right switch location. No hidden costs. The layout drawing comes with the quote so you can see exactly where lights will land.

3. Clean Install Same Day

We schedule the day, cover floors and furniture, run wiring through attic or ceiling cavity, cut precise holes, install fixtures, wire to dimmers, test everything, and clean up. Most kitchen-sized jobs are done in 4-6 hours.

How Kelvin Electric Pricing Works

No guessing. Here is how pricing works, so you know what to expect before we arrive.

Service Call: $175

If something isn’t working right, we come out and work to fix it, usually within the first hour. The service call is $175, plus any parts needed. If it looks like the job will run past an hour or is more than a quick fix, we stop, explain what we found, and you decide what happens next.

Quote From Photos or Video: No Charge

For many smaller jobs we can quote from photos or video at no charge. If we arrive and find more than the photos showed, we stop and walk you through what we found before any work begins.

In-Person Quote: $175, Credited to Your Job

If we need to see the job in person, the quote visit is $175. If you choose to move forward with the work, that $175 is credited toward it.

What's included in every install.

A proper recessed lighting install is more than dropping cans in a ceiling. It’s the layout design, the right fixtures for your space, the wire runs, the dimmer compatibility, and the finishing that makes it look intentional.
Here’s exactly what you get when we install your recessed lighting: included in the quoted price, with no surprises at the end.

Pick the right light for the room.

Not every recessed light works for every situation. We help you choose what fits, and explain why.

6-Inch LED Recessed

Standard Ambient · Most Rooms
The classic. Best for general ambient lighting in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and dining rooms. Wide light spread, attic-housing or canless wafer options. Most installs are this size.

4-Inch LED Recessed

Accent & Tight Spaces
Smaller profile for accent lighting, narrow hallways, over kitchen counters, or where tighter spacing creates a more modern look. Same LED quality, just smaller fixture.

Slim Wafer Downlights

Canless · Best for Retrofit
Less than an inch deep, no housing required. Ideal for ceilings with minimal attic space or finished rooms where you don’t want to deal with a bulky housing. Modern look with full performance.

Gimbal & Adjustable Trim

Aimed at Features · Art & Architecture
Tilted and rotated to direct light where you want it: spotlighting art, washing fireplaces, accenting a feature wall. The expensive-looking detail.

Wet-Location Trim

Shower & Wet Areas · IP65
Sealed and rated for shower stalls and other wet areas. Code requires these specifically. Don’t let anyone install a standard trim in a shower.

Smart-Capable Recessed

Lutron Caseta · Philips Hue Ready
Compatible with Lutron Caseta, Philips Hue, and major smart home platforms. Scenes, scheduling, voice control, color tuning. We handle both the fixtures and the switch integration.

Recessed lighting is permanent. The layout matters.

Once those holes are cut, they’re cut. You’re living with the spacing forever, or you’re patching ceilings and starting over. The difference between an install that looks like it belongs there and an install that screams “afterthought” is mostly about planning, attention to detail, and someone who’s done it enough times to know what works.
Here’s what we see when we get called to fix someone else’s recessed lighting.

What Goes Wrong

Your home feels different.

Good recessed lighting doesn’t announce itself. It just makes the room feel right. Brighter where you need it, dimmer when you want atmosphere, focused where it matters. People walk into the space and feel that something is better without quite knowing what.
Here’s what that looks like day to day.

Your New Normal

Often paired with recessed lighting.

Indoor Lighting

Pendants over kitchen islands, chandeliers in dining rooms, sconces in hallways: coordinated indoor lighting that complements your recessed installation.

Smart Home Wiring

Pair your recessed lighting with Lutron Caseta or Philips Hue for scenes, scheduling, voice control, and integration with the rest of your smart home.

Ceiling Fan Installation

Replacing the ceiling fan with recessed? Or adding a ceiling fan along with recessed? We handle ceiling fan installation, removal, and integration with light circuits.

How does Kelvin Electric charge for service calls and quotes?
A service call is $175, plus any parts, and we aim to fix the problem within the first hour. If it looks like the job will run past an hour or is more than a quick fix, we stop, explain what we found, and you decide what happens next. For many smaller jobs we can quote from photos or video at no charge. If we arrive and find more than the photos showed, we stop and walk you through what we missed before any work begins. If we need to quote in person, the visit is $175, and it is credited toward the work if you choose to move forward.
How much does recessed lighting cost in Oklahoma City?
Most kitchen jobs are 6-10 lights and most living rooms are 4-8 lights. We provide an in-home quote visit with a custom layout and clear all-in quote. See how Kelvin Electric pricing works on this page, or call (405) 267-7760 for a quote.
What's the difference between can lights and canless wafer lights?
Traditional can lights have a housing that sits in the ceiling cavity with a separate LED bulb or module. Canless wafer lights are slim LED panels (about half an inch thick) that install directly in the ceiling without a housing: great for retrofit work in finished homes because they need less attic space and create less ceiling damage. Both can be dimmable and color-selectable. We use what fits your situation best.
What color temperature should I choose?
2700K (soft warm white) feels cozy and matches incandescent: best for bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. 3000K (warm white) is slightly brighter and works for kitchens with warm tones. 4000K (cool white) is great for kitchens with cool tones, bathrooms, garages, and offices where you want crisp visibility. 5000K (daylight) is for workshops and task areas. Many modern LEDs offer selectable color temperature so you can adjust at install.
How long does recessed lighting installation take?
Most residential recessed lighting jobs are completed in a single day. A kitchen with 6-10 lights typically takes 4-6 hours. A whole-home install with 20+ lights across multiple rooms can take 1-2 days. We work efficiently and clean up at the end.
How many recessed lights do I need per room?
General guideline: divide ceiling height by 2 to get the spacing between lights (in feet). For an 8-foot ceiling, lights are spaced about 4 feet apart, half that from walls. A 12x12 room typically takes 4 lights; a 12x20 kitchen typically takes 6-8 lights. We design the layout during the quote visit based on room dimensions, use, and any focal points (kitchen isl, art wall) that need extra coverage.
Will it work with my existing dimmer switches?
Probably not perfectly. LED recessed lights need compatible LED dimmers: old incandescent dimmers often cause flickering, buzzing, or refusal to dim properly. We typically include compatible dimmer switches in the quote so you get smooth, full-range dimming from day one.
Can you install recessed lighting in a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
Yes. Sloped ceilings require sloped-ceiling-rated housings or angled trim to ensure light points downward rather than sideways. We assess the slope during the consultation and spec the right fixtures. Vaulted ceilings often look spectacular with recessed lighting.
Can you integrate with my smart home system?
Yes. We install recessed lighting compatible with Lutron Caseta, Philips Hue, and major smart home platforms. Scenes, scheduling, voice control through Alexa or Google Assistant, and color-tuning are all options. We coordinate fixture choice and switch integration during the consultation. More on smart home wiring.
Do I need a permit for recessed lighting?
Depends on scope. Replacing existing fixtures with recessed in the same switched circuit often doesn't require a permit. Adding new circuits, new switch locations, or significant wiring runs typically does. We tell you straight during the consultation whether a permit applies and handle pulling it if so.

Better lighting. Better home.

Schedule an in-home quote visit. We’ll measure the space, design a layout you can see before we cut anything, and give you a straight, all-in quote. No pressure, no surprises.
